I've realized lately that besides Christmas and Halloween, I'm sorely lacking in holiday decor. My current home decor color scheme isn't very pastel friendly but I couldn't resist making this towel.
The idea came to me while I was digging through my fabric stash. I originally wanted to make a table runner, but I found a flour sack hand towel that I had been saving for an embroidery project. The towel is the perfect pastel pink. Doesn't it look good together?
I quickly drew an egg and peep style bunny in illustrator and then used my Silhouette software to trace them and prepare them for cutting. I used this method to cut and adhere the shapes. Just click the picture to go to the tutorial.You can download the file here.
I ironed the shapes onto my towel, then I used a fine zig-zag stitch to applique the edges. I always opt for the heavy duty Heat n' Bond, which warns not to sew it, but I've never had any issues. The result is a festive and useful decoration.

Is anyone else obsessed with pineapples too?
I've been off the scrapbooking scene for awhile now, but in an effort to get back in, I ordered my first Messy Box. Did you see what awesome screen-print was included this month? Yep, a pineapple. I have plans to use this to make an awesome shirt.

I feel like everywhere I go I see this quirky fruit! I feel in love with pineapple back in 2000, when on a family trip to Hawaii, we stopped by the Dole Plantation, where I tasted Pineapple Whip - I was hooked.
Last year we discovered how much we like grilled pineapple. I put together just a few of my favorite pineapple things here.

When we moved to Texas, we had to get a new bed for Zoe. We contemplated whether to purchase her a twin or queen size bed. Ultimately, we decided to give her our old queen mattress and purchase a new memory foam mattress for ourselves. (It was a good choice for both parties)
She adores the giant bed, and we have a nice big bed for visitors to stay in. However, we don't have extra queen size bedding. Rather than purchase new bedding, I decided to make some for her with this gorgeous fabric I've been holding onto for quite some time.
Her quilt is in the works right now. I'll share more on that when it's completed. While I was waiting on some extra fabric to arrive, I had enough scraps to start making some pillows.
These pillows are a staple on her bed right now. They currently hold these adorable abridged and illustrated classics from the Target $1 spot.
The pattern for these pillows is available in this book. I've had it for almost two years now. I love it, but I've never made anything from it - until now!
On a side note - If you are new to sewing or are looking for easy to follow patterns, Allison Harris from Cluck, Cluck, Sew, is by far my favorite. Her designs are beautiful and clean, and her patterns are so user friendly!

I made these Scrappy Reader Pillows to hold Zoe's ever-growing stash of books she likes to read at night. The finished pillows are 14 x 14. The front pockets are quilted and the pillows have an envelope back opening.
