This week has been quite busy in the Humbert household. Meetings, birthday parties, crafting, and new teeth.
For my un-birthday, I got to order a bunch of scrapbook supplies. Yeah, most of that stack is pretty paper. I won't need to go shopping for quite awhile.
I'm normally not into Halloween at all but this year I have really wanted to decorate. Pumpkins, spider webs, the works. I made this decoupage canvas for the mantle.
This week, Zoe's BFF Ethan celebrated his second birthday! Zoe brought him balloons on Wednesday for his real birthday and then we went to his swimming party today. Here's a card I made for him.
Zoe has been the recipient of a new canine this morning. Total # of teeth :14.
I've been trying to figure out what I did to my wrist. It's been sore for the past week, but has really started hurting the past couple days. It's now kinda swollen, so I've been icing it and wrapping it. So if you see me with my wrist wrapped up, I'm ok.
This week, we have more meetings, some errands and more birthdays to celebrate. (Natalie and hopefully baby Lilly) I'm praying for the weather to finally change...sweaters here I come.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.

We came home with lots of apples, apple donuts, apple pumpkin butter and apple juice. We love Apples!
I'll leave you with this cute photo of Zoe watching the horses.

that title is supposed to resemble the count from Sesame Street.
Zoe is on her 13th tooth, a canine. All 4 were starting to come in, but one finally poked through.
this girl is going to be loosing teeth by her second birthday at this rate!
this weekend we are going to attempt to go to apple hill. if you remember, last year's venture did NOT go as planned. see this post.
We are going to celebrate my un-birthday.
Background: Birthdays are a big deal in my family. growing up, we get orange rolls in bed with presents all around, family dinner of our choice on the red "you're special" plate, sometime even a party.
For the past 3 years, on my birthday I have been traveling. Sometimes stuck in a hotel in Pennsylvania, sometimes on delayed flights, etc. And while they were all still nice birthdays, this year I wanted to not have to be in an airport. So I decided we're celebrating in September, which is a relatively uneventful month for us.
And yes, this year we don't have plans to travel on/around my birthday....I'm not taking any chances :)
No need to adjust your date books or calendars. This is a one time adjustment and we will return to regularly scheduled birthdays for Holly in 2010.

So after a drastic cut in May, I'm back to my in between hair length. I can't make it grow any faster, so I'll probably end up cutting it.
I'm really liking the tousled bob look, like this.
Anyone have any thoughts? Like or dislike?
please help!

When all is peaceful. No meltdowns, no freakouts, no awful barking, no meetings to go to or homework to do.
Ryan is making his fabulous chicken tacos and guacamole, and I am blogging :) It doesn't get much better than this.
*edited to add: I am now eating said tacos and guacamole, and it's heaven.
I've been getting back into my crafting groove. I made this hair flower last night.

I went to Michael's today and got some 12x12 frames so I can display some of my scrapbook pages. What I really need an another scrapbook. I have enough pages down to fill 1 or 2 more. Right now the pages are just sitting in a pile...should probably invest in a home for them.
Well off to enjoy my peaceful evening!

Today, Zoe and I took a trip to Goodwill today. We found just what we were looking for, and some books for Zoe. Then we stopped into the quilt shop and got some fat quarters for various projects. Some ruffle shirts and hair flowers.
I found the best blog for project ideas. mymamamadeit.blogspot.com. She has some great tutorials. I love how she does little projects for toddlers. I'm hoping to make some cute clothes for Zoe soon.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.

This evening when Z & I got home, she wanted to play with my scrapbooking stuff. She reached for the rotary cutter, but we settled on the jar of flowers instead :)
She had fun spilling them all over the floor and then decided to lay in them. I snapped a picture, it was too cute to pass up.
Last night I took on a project to turn an old dress into a button down shirt. It actually turned out and I wore it today! I should have taken pictures, but I didn't.
I'm in the process of changing my e-mail address to a more grown up one. It's changing to holly.humbert@gmail.com. Update your address books. I'll be forwarding from the brwneyes account until I get all my online stuff changed over (so like 2 or 3 weeks).
This weekend we are having a RS pancakes and pjs activity. Pancakes always remind me of my best friend in high school who worked at IHOP for a short time and always smelled like syrup. :)
MY new fall show addiction is GLEE. It totally makes me wish I could sing and dance. Zoe likes the dance numbers, she wiggles from side to side while they dance. We've been watching the pilot episode all summer on Hulu. Just love the awkwardness, it's heartwarming.
XOXO,

Today, I locked my keys in my car, for the first time since owning my car. and to my rescue, came Ryan. He was able to use a piece of wire to pry open the lock before AAA got here. HOORAY for handy husbands!
Zoe turned 15 months last week. It's amazing how fast time flies. Her newest words are "hot" "water" "yucky". She's also learned to walk backwards. It's rather funny to watch. She has a liking for sour fruit. She will eat lime and lemon wedges when we're at restaurants. Here she is eating a lime.
I'm trying to fit in some crafty projects. We'll see if it actually happens.

Zoe has been carrying around my purse lately. I love the way she holds her arm up so that the purse won't slide off. These are some pictures we took on Friday waiting for Daddy to get home.

Last night Zoe spent the night at Grandma & Granpa Humbert's house so Ryan and I got a date night!
We went to Macaroni Grill and discovered they had re-done the whole menu. Simplified, added, and changed the whole thing. It was great. The menu also now includes a nutritional information panel, so you can see exactly how many calories, sat. fat etc. you are getting. (EYE-OPENER!) I was shocked that one of my favorite dishes was almost 500 calories more than the Fetticini Alfredo! But it helped me make a positive decision. I got the Pollo Caprese, so Yummy! However out food was extrememly late coming out, so they comped us a dessert, which threw the whole calorie count out the window. (but is was divine)
Then we headed over to Fry's Electronics to walk around and ooh and ahh over expensive gadgets we don't need. We ended up buying printer ink which we needed.
It was an early night, but nice to get some one on one time with the Hubby.
Zoe is feeling much better. While home sick, she learned what the cow says, "Mooo" (said in the most adorable little Zoe voice)
Our dear friends/neighbors welcomed their second baby boy on Wednesday afternoon. Little Noah is as perfect as they come. Mom & Baby are both healthy and well. We're excited to have a brand new baby right next door. You can see pictures on their blog.
We'll be having a PJs & Pancakes breakfast next saturday for our ward Relief Society. I am thinking I need to get some cute jammies for this event. Don't wanna show up in Ryan's giant BYU sweatshirt and yoga pants, which is what I normally wear. Poor Jamie can attest to that. I wonder if Target has some cute ones.
Last weekend I got the urge to re-do Zoe's room. I took down all her alphabet canvases and bedding. I want to redo it in the color scheme/fabric from the quilt the Julie made her. Kind of a 70's mod feel. But then I got tired. So her room is less than cute right now but I'm hoping to make some changes during the long weekend.
Ok enough rambling for now. Have a great weekend everyone.

With a double ear infection!
Yep, Zoe has more ear infections. It's only happened right after we've been traveling, so I think from now on, we'll watch her much more closely after we go anywhere exotic. (ie. UT, etc)
For now we're just laying low drinking lots of fluids, cuddling and watching Mickey.
We're hoping to take her to Disney on Ice in October. Anyone else going?

We attended their reception that evening, it was beautiful. It was at the same venue as our own, fun to take a trip down memory lane.
Saturday was our Ward BBQ. Turned out over 100 people showed up. It was hot and there was a few bumps but overall we had a good time. Ryan and Zoe came a little late due to naps. Zoe gobbled up her hot dog. Who knew she loved hot dogs?
Ryan starts school tomorrow. He'll be taking 4 classes this semester, he will be quite busy!
My creative juices are still absent so I apologize for the lacking of blogging (blogging is included in the creative juices part)
I'll try to be better about posting this week, but no promises.
XOXO,

So sorry about the lack of blogging lately. Getting back into the swing of things always takes a few weeks. I've got some big ward events coming up so my evenings are full of phone calls and errands instead of blogging. But I definitely have something to blog about today.....
My sister, Natalie opened up her Etsy shop today. She makes beautiful jewelry. Last year, she interned with jewerly maker in Italy and found her love and talent.
To celebrate her Grand Opening, she's giving a 10% discount and free shipping for any purchase before September 11th.
Stop by and take a peek.

One of my scrapbook pages was featured on a manufacturer's blog today! I was so excited this morning when I checked their blog and found my layout the first picture. (link is above)
The layout is of my brother at my wedding, playing with a glass soda bottle.

We had so much fun seeing lots of family. It was a busy 3 days. We went all over town, shopping and going to old favorite candy shoppes and visiting family. Zoe took a little while to warm up, but had lots of fun with her cousins, and 2nd cousins.
Sorry to everyone we didn't get to see, we should be back in a couple months for a longer stay, so we'll try to get everyone in then. It's amazing how fast 3 days goes.
Back at home......
Last night we had our Relief Society Service Auction. We had lots of fun and great attendance. I won a red coral bracelet/anklet and some babysitting. Thanks to everyone who helped/donated/bid on items. Next activity up: Ward BBQ, August 29th.
R yan will be starting a very FULL semester in a couple weeks. It's been nice to have him off this summer without math homework or labs to be completed in the evenings, but I think he's getting anxious to have homework again...lol...you can only play so many video games (his words)
Zoe is cutting ANOTHER tooth. This will make lucky 13...it's a canine. She missed her bff, E while we were gone. When we got back at 6 am on Tuesday morning, and we walked past there door she started waving. So cute. She's saying lots of new words, Grandpa, PaPa, monkey, and others, but I can't remember them all now.
Campbell was so good while we were gone, thank you to the Boyce family for taking such good care of her!
Stay tuned for more crafty happenings...
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Nothing says Tuesday like heat and humidity...yuck!
I don't actually like Tuesdays, so rather than explain why I don't like Tuesdays, I'll leave you with a link to Zoe pictures.
(thanks jamie for the pictures)
Z & E
Off to get a diet coke and beat the heat!

Last night Ryan and I got to go on a date, something we haven't done in a long time. We went to Mas in Roseville and had a Mexican feast. I got a shot of Ryan and his Carnitas, while the Mariachi band played in the background.
After Dinner, I convinced Ryan to take me to my favorite scrapbook store, Green Tangerines. There was a lot of new stuff in and I picked up some great Cosmo Crickets products to make a mini album for our ward service action in a couple weeks. Here's a little peak. If you want to see the full thing, you can look at my scrapbook galleries, I loaded the whole thing there.
And here is Ms. Z wearing her new Milk & Cookies pjs. I asked her what was on her shirt and she said "Cookie." She surprises us with new words ever day.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.

Last night, Jamie & E had us over to play. They were being so funny together so Jamie and I took some video.
They have such a sweet sibling type relationship. One moment they are running after each other, the next they are fighting over toys. It's wonderful! As parents, we've already decided they need to get married.
This morning, I bruised my thumb really bad. I thought it was broken cuz it turned all purple but I can bend it so I think it's just really bruised, but it's making typing a little difficult.

*supposed to be posted on Monday....accidentally saved instead of posted*
Who knew a 14 month old could go ballistic over chicken....Well we had our proof on Saturday.
We decided to go out to lunch at one of our favorites, El Torito. We got all seated, with drinks, and chips and salsa. Our food took awhile to get to us, and Zoe was not content with chips and lettuce. So when her chicken tenders came, she immediately grabbed one to knaw on. They were pretty big so I started to cut the other pieces up for her. When I finised cutting up all the other pieces, I took the one piece out of her mouth to cut up while she ate the little pieces. Well she was not having any of that. She proceeded to scream to the point of silence and then some. Even after I returned the large piece of chicken, she was still crying. I had to get to her of her high chair to comfort her. Zoe is normally very content in restaurants. I felt so bad for the other patrons. * If you were at El Torito on Saturday afternoon and sitting near us, I'm so sorry. I tried to calm her down as best I could* She did eventually calm down, but man who knew she would get so upset over chicken...
She is learning her "No-No" all over again and responds to every questions with a "No" even when the answer is "Yes." She is also quite the dancer when she is in the mood. I entertain her by singing "Apples & Bananas" in the car on our way home. She laughs when Ryan runs around with her blanket on his head and does Kung Fu moves. I think she's getting more teeth.
I'm back in a crafty slump although I did make some home decor for fall, it's a pencil bouquet, inspired by the line from the movie, " You've got Mail" about freshly sharpened pencils. I think I'll be decorating in a school theme this fall. I still need to change my throw pillows. Ugh, the "To-do" list never ends.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.

Zoe has a Old McDonald finger puppet book. We held it up on Saturday and she said "E-i-e-i-o" it was adorable. I tried to get it on video and of course she didn't want to cooperate. She has also been saying "Bye" a lot.
She had here "1 year" appointment last week. I say that in quotes because she is almost 14 months. But she's doing great. She's 22 lbs. and we can now get her a forward facing car seat! Yeah.
I've updated my scrapbook galleries with lots of new pages if you want to take a look. This layout is for a challenge this month to use Cosmo Cricket products and 2 pictures. I built the entire layout around that Red 2. I was just in love with it.
I've also been working on a mini book for our ward Relief Society Service Auction. I was having such a great flow of creativity when Heather was here...and now it's dwindling. But in that time period I think I got almost 20 layouts done, so that took care of most of Zoe's pictures and I'm pretty current.
Our trip to Utah will be postponed a bit, but I'm pretty sure we'll be out there in the next couple weeks.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.

So I have lots of thoughts floating today.
I really want to finally decorate our apartment/our bedroom. Zoe's room is done, although I would like to redecoratethat too. But I can't decide on a theme or even a color scheme. Sometimes I like the brights, like Orange & Grey. and other times I want crisp clean, Dusty blue & ivory. I think I might just have to be a pillow person. Get everything is basics and accessorize with pillows. Anthropologie has a gorgeous duvet on sale. I wonder how Ryan would feel about the flowers....they really are only on the bottom.
We may or may not be going to Utah in the next couple of weeks and the back and forth is driving me a little batty. My parents will be there next week but we don't know how long they are staying. And since we don't know when/if they are moving I want to make sure I get to see them when I can. My bff/neighbor will be having a baby within the next 4 weeks, sometime and I want to be here for that. Then driving......all night......with no a/c.....On the other hand I could totally go for some sister time and Cafe Rio.....decisions, decisions.
This weekend I need to seriously clean and organize closets. My side of our closet drives Ryan nuts. I need a dresser. I also can't decide how much of Zoe's baby clothes to keep. Right now I think I have 5 boxes of stuff taking up a large chunk of her closet space. Should I just keep the nice dresses and donate the rest? or should I keep it all so we don't have to buy anything if we have another girl. Thoughts?
Also, what do you do with your wedding dress? should I just fold it up nicely and put it in a box or keep it hanging? It's really poofy and takes up a lot of space.
Im really wanting to hit up Goodwill for some housewares, like shelves and stuff. Ryan is so good a refinishing stuff. Maybe I can sneak off tomorrow morning during Zoe's nap.
Zoe if growing like a weed. She looks so grown up already. I don't know what I'm going to do when she turns 2. She is loving her new hairbows that BFF Heather made when she was here. (she wore the supcake one to Grandma's today!) When she sees them she grabs them, brings them to me and motions for me to put them on her head. Then we so, " So pretty" and she runs to show Ryan how pretty she is. She cracks me up.
Alright, this concludes my randomness for today. If you made it to the bottom, thanks for reading.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
PS. I'll be back with new pictures tomorrow.
