Well this obviously isn't Zoe standing up, but it's the crazy hair she woke up with the other morning!
After dinner tonight, Zoe was playing with us and she stood up for like 10+ seconds! She's such a fast crawler that she doesn't have a really strong desire to walk/stand. But tonight we got her to stand multiple times. Hopefully she'll start trying to walk by herself soon.
This week Zoe started new daycare. Jamie is pregnant and so we found some new care for her but we sure do miss Jamie and E. Thanks Jamie! So far she loves Ms. Liz and comes home tired every day! She falls asleep before we get home.
Yesterday for FHE, Ryan, Zoe & I headed up to the best scrapbook store in California, Green Tangerines and had fun replenishing my stash. We also stopped by Fry's for Ryan and Sonic to get drinks.
This weekend, my bff from Colorado is coming to visit. I haven't seen him since my wedding so we're anxious for him to meet Zoe and catch up.
I'm excited for Easter to come. I got some goodies for Zoe's Easter basket. I don't think we're going to do an egg hunt, but the Easter Bunny will come fill her basket.
I'll leave you with this picture I snapped of Zoe last week playing with her books in her room.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
I was sent a link to the Restaurant Report Card and just had to read it.
You better believe I was suprised at a lot of the grades and information.
I'm sure as you all know, I'm still working some baby weight off, so I've been paying more attention to what I put in my mouth especially at restaurants. I was amazed when I started looking at menus at how quickly the calories add up, especially in a place like Chipotle. Even if I got a salad, if I added the dressing, it would make it more calories than if I had a burrito and chips! They say knowledge is power, however, sometimes I look at the nutrition info, and I think to myself, "I dont really care how many calories, fat grams, etc...I want it anyway." That's almost worse than not knowing at all...
Ok now to baby news. Zoe is becoming more vocal saying "ba ba" and "da da" a lot. She can clap and will play pat-a-cake with you. When you start singing the song she will mimic you. She still can't "roll it" yet but she can" toss it in oven" She has started mock waving. instead of waving she holds her hand out nad flips it palm up. Kinda weird, but whatever.
She is also more devious than we orginally thought. I tried to get this on video, but I couldn't and I just had to post about it. Zoe is an enabler. Lately, she and Campbell have become really good friends. Zoe now knows how to open cabinets. We keep Campbell's treats in a lower cabinet that Zoe can now open. Well Campbell wanted a treat and stood by that cabinet. Zoe promptly crawled over to her, stood up, opened the cabinet doors, and knocked the can of treats on the floor for Campbell dog. Campbell grabbed the can and ran away. I'm sure we should have stopped her or told her no, but it was so funny. Ryan and I just watched in shock. Come a few more months and we're going to have a dangerous team on our hands.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
We're over the sickness, with the exception of allergies, but that will take months to go away.
Last week I had our Big Enrichment meeting. It was a Relief Society version of Girl's Camp. I made the dessert for the evening and it was a big hit!
Friday was Grandma Julie's birthday and we got to go out to dinner at Claim Jumper. Zoe was such an angel. She sat and ate her puffs and some of my baked potato and some ceral bar. She played with the spoons and straws and sqwaked a bit, but no crying at all! Well until we got about a mile from the house.
I came home to a wonderful surprise on Friday. Our "backyard" which is really our patio with about a 1x6 foot stretch of dirt, was covered with bark and decorated with moss on rocks and a cute little metal fence. Ryan made me a "garden." I've been commenting for a long time how ugly that dirt patch looked and how I wish we could have grass or something out there. I love that my husband pays attention!
This weekend I got my creativity flowing. I scrapbooked 8 pages this weekend, including all of christmas. I've been in a slump for awhile so it felt good to scrapbook again. I'm hoping next week Ryan will take me to Green Tangerines in Rocklin, so I can restock some of my supplies.
Saturday, Ryan had homework, so Zoe and I got a lot of time together. We played in her room, we went on a walk, we went to the craft store, it was quite an exausting day.
Yesterday, we went to church and played with our new friend A. Then we came home and made cookies and cajun chicken nuggets.
So sorry for my lack of blogging. Last week was crazy busy, Ryan and I both had meetings all week long.
And now...Zoe and I are down for the count (hence the title :)
In Zoe news, She's getting a couple more teeth. She is almost standing. by almost, I mean she can stand for a second or two then drops. She is eating more people food. Last week she had rice, cereal bars, soft pretzel, baby crunchy chips. She knows how to drink out of a glass, however, she gets so excited she usually tips the glass too much and spills. She is saying ba ba and da da a lot! She doesn't hesitate to take her toys back from Campbell.
I will try to update more regularly, these past few weeks have just been so busy.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Of my assistant (AKA Ry) I was able to snap this photo of Zoe's ever multiplying teeth! So there are 6 in this picture, and her top 2 molars are starting to come down.
We are having a busy, busy week. Meetings, interviews, school, car repairs...the list seems to be endless.
Nothing too exciting going on here.
Posting some pictures of Zoe from January when we went to the park.
Hopefully next week will be more exciting and I'll have more to post about.
XOXO,
Holly & CO.
Hello all, please pardon this interruption from regular Zoe blogs, but since I use this blog as my "journal" I wanted to make sure I documented some things I have been thinking lately. So read if you like, if not, you can wait until the next blog post for more Zoe info and pics :)
Recently, I have not been scrapping a lot. I'm too busy or too tired or just not feeling creative. However, my visiting teacher came over last week and she ended up looking through a couple of my scrapbooks. After she left, I was thinking about all my scrapbooks and how important they are to me. Each of my scrapbooks generally seems to document a specific chunk of my life. My first one is pre-high school, everything from my baptism, to my first stake dance. My pages are very harsh. No design what-so-ever and a mish-mosh of stickers and ribbon and tape. (Yes I used masking tape on some of my photos...so wrong)My next couple are of high school, and the next are college, and wedding and now baby...but each one of those books, the styles change, just like I changed. I never made that connection before last week. Scrapbooking has a deeper meaning that pretty paper and tools, who would have thought :)
I scrap to have my story, my family's story written down. I scrap to journal. I scrap for creative outlet. I scrap for fun. I scrap because I like pretty things.
For those of you who don't scrap and want to get started or those of you that do scrap and want some good resources, here is a list of websites I use for inspiration or shopping!

The past weeks Zoe has been less than her cheery self. She is still pleasant but has had lots of cranky moments and not a lot of naps. She has also failed to consistently sleep through the night for several months...Well this morning, we finally got our explanation.
Zoe is the proud new owner of 3 new teeth...yes 3 overnight. So she now has 6 teeth. 4 on top and just the 2 on the bottom.
Not only that, but the past 4 nights, she has slept all night!
She is also closing in on the walking thing. She currently cruises around the furniture and walks with her lion all over the place. The video below will demonstrate just how fast she is.
She is 8.5 months. I'm just amazed at how quickly she has gone from little baby, so full on kid-let.
Zoe is 8 months today, and I wanted to write down some of the things she does/likes so I can put it in her scrapbook and so I don't forget.
*She cruises around furniture, and often gets herself stuck standing up.
*She can feed herself puffies.
*She says "ma-ma" and "ba-ba" but has no association yet.
*Her hair is long enough to do piggy tales.
*She loves tropical fruit medley, apples & Chicken, & carrots.
*She still LOVES her paci, and enjoys having more than one to play with.
*She loves when she sneezes, it makes her laugh.
*She doesn't take naps during church anymore...too much to look at.
*She loves playing in the dog bowls and has attempted to eat dog food many a time.
*She loves to bang on the computer keyboard.
*She loves Campbell, especially when Campbell is licking the cereal and baby food off her shirt or hands, she just giggles and giggles.
*She can drink from a sippy cup, but still prefers her bottle.
*She has 3 teeth with a 4th one well on it's way.
*She loves the tub and still gets excited when she hears the water turn on.
*She wears mostly 12 month clothes.
(This list is mostly for me, but I hope you all enjoy it)
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Ryan and I had a fun filled weekend planned. Dan and Julie took Zoe on Saturday so we could have a long needed date. As I was getting ready, my 375 degree curling iron dropped every so quickly onto my arm. Here is a picture of my wound. Luckily, it didn't blister and we could continue with our plans.
We went to the movies and saw Paul Blart: Mall Cop. It was really really funny. If you like a sit down have a good time, not have to think about the plot movies, this is a good one. Lots of laughs. Then we came home and I took a nap, something I hadn't done in a long time. Then Zoe came home and we played, then bed.
Sunday, we got ready for church and I put Zoe's hair in pigtails, then Ryan thought it would be fun to straighten them, so that is the picture below. They stood straight up, until they dried, and then they went frizzy and bent every which way.
Also yesterday, Zoe started to feed herself. We have these little puff snacks and she would crawl over and pick them up and eat them, Ryan got a video of it, so I'll post that later.
Hope you have a great week.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
The other week, Ryan went to the store to grab me some stuff and brought home a Red Velvet Cake mix. Well yesterday after church we were craving something sweet, so I busted it out. Come to find out, neither Ryan or I had ever even had red velvet cake. I asked him why he bought it then, and he said, " It looked REALLY good." I was surprised to find out how redit really was. So it went from this red....
to this red... and that frosting was amazing! Recipe here. Also, last night Zoe had meats for the first time. Along with her cereal and veggies, I gave her a taste of "Chicken noodle" baby food. At first she liked it, and then on the following bites, she kept spitting it out. She is growing so fast.
As promised, I am posting some pictures I took on Saturday of her and her piggy tales.
Not to much planned for this week, but that can always change.
Well it's been awhile since I put up pictures and I still couldn't get the camera from Ryan's car, so I was going to take one to put up with my phone but then I realized I could take videos! So you will most likely be seeing more videos of Zoe in the near future. I wanted to show everyone how fast she craws and how cute her little beanie is!
Happy Weekend!
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
I'm so sorry. I know it's been a week, and I actually have things to update.
Last weekend, we did our Spring Cleaning. Julie & Dan took Zoe for the day and Ryan and I got to work. I think we did about 10 loads of laundry, Ryan cleaned the carpets and power washed the floors. I cleaned out every closet in our house and Zoe's dresser. Packed away all the clothes that don't fit, threw away all the clothes that have holes or stains. It was refreshing.
Although, about half way through our day, after taking out a load of trash, I realized my wedding ring was gone. After many prayers and lots of searching, I had resolved that I must have lost it during one of my errands that day and it was gone. Ryan and I went to change the laundry, and the first dryer I opened, there was my ring, sitting so perfectly up on the edge. It must have fallen off while I was putting clothes in the dryer. So happy I have my ring back!
Zoe had been cranky and stuffy all weekend and this week, but low and behold, the other night, a new tooth popped through! She is still stuffy but less cranky. She has been sleeping better. She sleeps through the night about 50% of the time.
On Monday, Ryan had school off, so I took a vacation day so we could spend some time together as a family. We went to the park so Campbell could run around and Zoe could play. Her favorite thing at the park is the swings, she just giggles and giggles. She isn't so big on the teeter toter or the slide. I did take pictures and they include piggy tales, so as soon as I get the camera from Ryan's car, I will post them.
The rest of the week, I have been sick. I had a stomach bug Monday night, which turned quickly into some sort of cold. But I'm feeling better now.
Ryan will be working part of the weekend, but we might be able to catch a short date. I'm thinking we'll head to the driving range and then ice cream.
I hope you are all having a great new year!
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Right when we got home from Oklahoma, Ryan's phone broke. Well it had been dying for some time, but it finally became unusable. Our contract was up soon, so we just shared my phone for a couple weeks. I never realized how much I use my phone....a lot. I had a hard time without it. But I am happy to say that we are now the owners of shiny new phones. So if you didn't get a text from me with my new number, you can e-mail me at brwneyes525@aol.com with your phone number and I will send it to you, because I'm really not wanting to post my phone number on the internet.
Onto piggy tales.
Zoe has been growing a comb over for quite some time. Her hair never totally fell out, just the bottom half. So the top half was really long. But it was starting to curl, like mine did as a baby, so I didn't want to cut it. Finally the bottom half of her hair is starting to grow in, but the top is now long enough for cute, curly piggy tales. They don't last all day, but they are adorable. I took a picture this morning on my new phone, but it is dark. So my goal for this weekend is to post a piggy tale picture.
Ryan and I have both been extremely busy this week with work, school, and church stuff. By the way, thanks for everyone's ideas and help for my frugal class, it went well. So I apologize for the lack of blogging but I will strive to be better.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend and a happy holiday, if you get Monday off!
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Ryan took Zoe to the Dr. yesterday for her 6/7 month appointment.
She is in the 60% percent for weight, 90% for height. she weighs 17 lbs. (it feels like a lot more) She is definitely a Humbert. The height doesn't come from my family.
She has her 2 bottom teeth and is getting one on the top right now.
She crawls all over the house and learned to sit up on her own and pull her self up to standing last week.
She loves rice cereal with bananas. She is not so keen on sweet potatoes.
She loves when Campbell likes her face.
She loves her daddy, he makes her laugh.
She rubs her as as soon as she gets tired.
She loves her paci.
Her nicknames are Bink, Binky, Stinky Bink, Zo, ZeeZee, Z, Z monster.
She loves her new glow worm (Thanks cousin Tay!)
She likes being read to, but only when she's tired, otherwise she can't sit through the book.
She loves playing with hair.
She has been to 5 states (CA,NV,UT,TX,OK)
She's learning how to drink out of a sippy cup.
Her best friend is E. Stauffer, She loves to watch him dance.
She sleeps on her stomach with her butt in the air.
She loves tubby time.
Her hair is starting to curl, just like mine did.
Her eyes are green, just like Ryan's.
She sleeps through the night, most nights.
This information is more for me and documenting, than anything, but I'm sure would all like to know what Z is up to.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
I am on the enrichment commitee at church and I am teaching a class next week on being frugal and stretching your dollar. I have a lot of great information already, thanks to several different resources, but I think frugal tips is something you can never have enough of.
If you would be so kind, to add your favorite frugal tips in a comment, I would love to add to my collection and share them with my ward. I was going to post all of mine, but a lot of people that read this blog, also live here, and I want it to be a surprise :)
So add your tips, please please. And if you are coming to my class on the 13th, you are more than welcome to bring friends and family members, there will be treats.
PS. if you know you are bringing people, will you let me know so I can make enough treats!
Sorry it has taken me so long to post from the good old west. We've been quite busy as you can imagine, so I'll try to recap quickly. And there are not going to be pictures for this post because I didn't bring my camera cord.
My birthday was great, after a long day of traveling, my mom made walnut chicken (at my request) and we had some chocolate cheesecake for dessert. I got a cute shirt, a yummy candle, and scrapbooking stuff.
We had a good time getting ready for Christmas, lots of shopping and baking, and snacking.
Zoe was quite overwhelmed on Christmas morning, she had too many things to play with and look at. She actually went back to bed before all the presents were opened. She got everything from clothes to books to toys that make noise to a Mr. Potato Head to a my little pony. Ryan and I both got clothes, books, movies, and gift cards.
This past Sunday, I got called up randomly to share my testimony in Sacrament meeting. It was unexpected but I was really happy that I was able to share my beliefs with my family there.
With several built in babysitters, Ryan and I have actually been able to go out a few times alone, which has been so nice. We've been talking about our future plans for 2009 and our new year's resolutions.
We also got family pictures taken, again...lol...but with my side of the family. Hopefully we will get to see them by the end of the week.
hmm, what else....oh! Tonight for New Year's Eve, we are having a murder mystery dinner. It's a pirate theme and I'm pretty excited to get everyone dressed up. (I'll take pictures and recap that in a different post, sometime soon)
Zoe has been making leaps and bounds out here, literally. She has learned to pull herself up to standing using furniture and will stay there. She isn't walking yet, but she will walk if you hold her hands. I'm impressed by her skills, but at the same time, I really want her to stay little for a few more months.
She is getting another tooth, this makes 3, but this one is on the top. She has been quite a pill at night, keeping Ryan and I up most nights. She did have a cold, so the congestion hasn't been helping either.
She is quite fascinated by cousin Noah, however, if she gets to close she tends to attack him, so she has to be restrained when she wants to play with Noah.
We are all having a great time here in Oklahoma, we'll be home in a few days, and back to a regular posting schedule.
Happy New Year!
XOXO,
Holly & CO.
Tonight we spent with Ryan's family before we head off to Oklahoma tomorrow. We were taking pictures and Ryan captured this one. I don't have a lot of pictures of me and Zoe, but I really like this one.
Zoe got lots of toys and clothes, we'll be taking more pictures with her in the clothes, they are so cute. I got a rotary cutter and mat (yeah!) and some clothes and perfume. Ryan got gift cards and goodies and jeans. Thanks Mom & Dad Humbert!
We don't have a Christmas tree up this year, but Zoe definitely enjoyed the ornaments :)
Well tomorrow I will be spending my birthday traveling, for the 3rd year in a row. But then when I get to Oklahoma, we are having my birthday dinner with Walnut Chicken...yummy!
Happy Holidays!
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
We are not doing Christmas cards this year, nor did we do them last year. Sorry to say, I had so many things going on, Christmas cards got pushed to the end of the line. However, I will probably be doing some sort of Valentine's/St. Patrick's Day/Easter cards, depending on the month I get to it, so never fear, I will send cards out...sometime next year.
This picture is from our photoshoot with Ryan's Family, just after Thanksgiving. (thanks to Mom& Jen for making Zoe laugh)
We will be heading to Oklahoma for Christmas again this year, in just a couple of days. Now we'll be on the same schedule with all the other siblings, so we will be all together next year. I'm just praying that the weather cooperates and we don't have delays getting there. We will be doing Christmas with Ryan's parents on Friday, so we'll see how Zoe reacts to presents. She has been very interested in the presents I have been wrapping for other people, but her only interest is chewing on the ribbon, or covering the paper in drool, I doubt she actually understands the concept of presents.
I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday season. Ours has been busy, but very bright.
Right now I'm getting in the spirit with Pandora, listening to 'Baby, it's cold outside." One of my favorite songs. I'll be wrapping up wrapping presents tonight, and then enjoying my clean house and maybe some sugar free fat free hot chocolate. Here's the recipe.
XOXO,
Holly & Co.
Ryan Humbert, for the best husband ever!
This morning, here is chilly California, lol, there was ice on my whinsheild and all my windows. Normally, I would scrape it with a credit card for like a minute, then wait for the car to defrost the rest. But no, I have the best husband ever, who scraped my car, while I sat in the car waiting for the heater to warm up. He scraped the entire thing, not just the windows I needed.
AND
Last night, I came home from work, to find my house, completely cleaned!
So let's hear it for the boy!
Here's to you baby, I love you!
Well this is not only my hundreth post, but it's about our Ward Christmas Party.
There's Zoe and Santa.
Well the party is finally over and I can let my nerves calm down now. Ryan was a super helper. He helped me scrub and wash 70lbs. of potatoes and bake 40lbs. But we got them all cooked and everyone at the party enjoyed them.
The tasks for this week include, packing for all of us, including Christmas Presents, cleaning the house, getting Campbell's stuff ready for the Kennel, and maybe catching up on a little crafting, but that is after all the above is done.
I just want to thank all the friends of mine that assisted with the ward party, including taking pictures, baking, keeping my sanity, helping clean up the kitchen, etc etc. you are wonderful!
Now I'm going to try and enjoy what's left of December and put on some Christmas music and be of good cheer!
