It's less than 2 weeks into 2015 and quilt #1 is done! Granted, I did have the top done last year, but I finished it this year, so I'm counting it for 2015.
The pattern for this quilt is available for free from Andover Fabrics here. The Fabrics I used are from the Catnap line by Lizzy House. The line is no longer in print, but you can find pieces of it online.
I followed the pattern in looks, but not exactly in size. I bought a fat quarter bundle and had to shirk the blocks a bit to fit in the fat quarters, but I made up for it by adding 1 additional row and 1 additional column.

Square corners! |
The backing is this awesome black and white script print - it's 108 inches wide, which makes backing large quilts so easy! It's available here. The binding is pieced from various fabrics that I had left over from making the quilt top.
I quilted it diagonally along both sides of each seam. With my sewing machine, this was about the biggest quilt I could work through my machine, anything bigger and it's won't fit. This was the first time using a skinny binding and I loved it! I was finally able to get square corners - something that I have never been able to achieve before.
Having creative goals is definitely motivating and I'm hoping to keep up the pace for the rest of the year!
